Sanford Smith Fine Art is delighted to introduce the work of Kathleen Kolb to the Berkshires. Kolb has successfully shown her work to New Yorkers and Vermonters alike, but is thrilled to be branching out to include the Berkshires on her list of places to exhibit. Her newest show, “At Home With Light” reflects Kolb’s keen grasp of the New England soul- a tough inner strength illuminated by beams of light. At first glance, it may seem like a show about landscape with architectural elements, but all viewers will find a much more intellectual and discerning twist in each of the paintings.
Kolb is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, and has spent many of the past years teaching. She was chosen from a group of 300 artists to participate in the Art Of Action project, to work with the other nine selected artists to create and exhibit work that addressed the issues facing the future of the state of Vermont. Kolb has taught at Middlebury College and been a faculty member of the Governor’s Institute on the Arts.
In Kathleen’s own words when describing her work: “I consider the power and beauty of weather, geography and human endeavor. For me painting is immersing myself in the sensation of light amongst all these elements, with all it implies about the present moment and the passage of time, and working to hold that emotional reality with paint.”
“At Home With Light” opens July 29th. Closes August 18th.
Artist Reception - Saturday July 30th from 4-7pm.
