Wendy Goldberg

California artist Wendy Goldberg’s delicate pastel drawings have captivated viewers for years. After graduating from Cornell University Wendy decided to begin drawing the haunting stretches of sky that had surrounded her throughout her time in college. She has been highly recognized throughout her artistic career, drawing praise from artists including Wayne Thiebaud John Toki and Susan Jane Walp. Originally from the Berkshires, Wendy now lives and works in Northern California although she frequently comes to New England to take in the vibrant colors and sweeping fields that she so often depicts in her pastels.

Her gestural, sometimes impressionistic drawings have the ability to illuminate the emotional charge of moments of scenery whether it be the moody, wavering glow of evening lights in a small town or the vibrant rush of sun brushed leaves on an October day. M. O’Donoghue says her drawings “provide an element of tension, retain a sense of mystery and imply that the rather simple landscapes of nature contain unrevealed secrets.” We are delighted to bring these beautiful landscapes to Sanford Smith Fine Art this fall.
