Gurhan

Orhan Gurhan is internationally renowned as one of the world’s premiere designers of 24 karat gold jewelry. Using both precious and semi-precious stones, Gurhan incorporates everything from black briolette diamonds to ancient Roman coins into his hand-hammered rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces.

         Born in Ankara, Turkey in 1954, he studied watch making in Switzerland during the 1980’s. He began to make a name for himself amongst collectors for his one of-a-kind watches, which he created by disassembling and restoring antique timepieces. Several years later, during a visit to Istanbul, Gurhan discovered the material that would inspire his career as a jewelry designer: 24 karat gold. Gurhan embraced the challenge of working with the notoriously soft metal by creating his own tools based on those of  ancient goldsmiths. Combining thousand-year old methods with his own innovations, Gurhan perfected the art of 24 carat gold jewelry, and has continued to push the envelope by including pure silver and platinum into his designs.
