Kinney Frelinghuysen

Sanford Smith Fine Art is thrilled to present the work of Kinney Frelinghuysen. Frelinghuysen has been showing at major New York City galleries over the past several years, and has not exhibited locally in almost two decades. A graduate of Bowdoin College and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he brings to Great Barrington his new collection of landscapes. While in France, at the studio of Claude Augerau, Frelinghuysen perfected the technique of the studio- abstract, gestural painting- known in Paris as “peinture Americaine”.

Kinney’s paintings feature work from an impressive range of stylistic mastery; from the abstract to the impressionistic, there is a painting for every collector. Frelinghuysen’s intellectual drive is apparent as he explores new techniques and captures subject matter throughout his work- ordinary cornfields become battlefields, a farmer becomes a modern day hero, a cow becomes a best friend.
