Peter Brooke is a master of the New England landscape. From his home in Vermont, he has captured the open sky and rolling hills of the north country. Brooke has created atmospheres that delve into landscapes more closely related to the interior world as well - pondering the nature of mankind’s relationship to nature.
Over the past decade, Brooke’s work has evolved from depictions of dark, forbidding Delaware wetlands to vaulting atmospheres gathering along the Irish coast to the vernacular of the Vermont countryside, with a common theme of the interior and exterior of nature.
Brooke graduated from Denison University in 1983, and continued on receiving his MFA from Mount Royal School of Painting a few years later.
Brooke’s work has evolved from the abstract to the elegantly detailed. His chosen media of oil on paper, wood panel or mylar bring different moods to the finished works.
Peter Brooke’s paintings are in the collections of American Express, Chase, JPMorgan, Dana Farber and Sloan Kettering just to name a few.
