Mikael Kennedy now lives in Brooklyn, by way of Vermont and four years at Hampshire College, but if you ask him where he is comfortable, he will answer his van- coincidentally furnished with all his photographic equipment. Kennedy has made a name for himself working on a series of
Polaroids that were turned into an exhibit at the Chelsea Hotel in New York. Kennedy has blogged about his Polaroid travel series under the title “Passport to Trespass” and has turned up quite a following. To that end, he was invited by the International Polaroid Symposium to be a guest speaker in Cardiff, Wales.
The photographs that are here at Sanford Smith Fine Artare part of Kennedy’s Odysseusseries. The criteria for these photographs is American landscape; from Maine to California, Kennedy endeavors to capture the essence our country’s natural beauty. The frames are made of salvaged wood with brass screws. Kennedy’s work is in the permanent collection of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston as well as in many other private collections.
His photographs have been published in magazines too numerous to mention. Kennedy’s commercial work is equally impressive- catalogs, record covers, book jackets- keep Mikael’s schedule very, very full.
